  • Family member names and nicknames you add to your circle
  • Work shift patterns and rota information
  • Childcare arrangements and provider names
  • School schedules and term dates
  • Family events and calendar entries

  • Helper and grandparent availability details

Information collected automatically

What we do NOT collect

  • Payment or financial information
  • Your location or GPS data
  • Photos or images (unless you upload a profile picture)
  • Any government ID or sensitive personal data

3. Why we collect your information

We only collect information that is necessary to provide the HomeShift service. Specifically we use it to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Power the family planning and rota features of the app
  • Send you important service updates and notifications
  • Respond to your support requests
  • Improve and fix the app based on usage patterns
  • Contact waitlist members when beta access becomes available

We do not use your information for advertising, sell it to third parties, or share it with marketing companies.

4. Legal basis for processing (UK GDPR)

Under UK GDPR, we process your data under the following lawful bases:

  • Contract โ€” to provide the service you signed up for
  • Legitimate interests โ€” to improve the app and ensure security
  • Consent โ€” for optional communications such as beta updates and newsletters

5. How we store and protect your data

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure within the European Union. This means your data is subject to EU data protection standards.

We protect your data through:

  • End-to-end HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
  • Row Level Security (RLS) โ€” meaning you can only access your own family's data
  • Encrypted password storage (passwords are never stored in plain text)
  • Regular security reviews and updates

HomeShift is currently in beta. While we take security seriously, we recommend not storing highly sensitive information in the app during this period.

6. Who we share your data with

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We only share data with the following trusted services that help us run HomeShift:

  • Supabase โ€” database and authentication (supabase.com)
  • Netlify โ€” website hosting and waitlist form submissions (netlify.com)
  • Lovable โ€” app development platform (lovable.dev)

All third-party services we use are GDPR compliant. We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect the safety of users.

7. Family member data

HomeShift allows you to add information about other people โ€” including children, partners, grandparents and helpers. By adding someone to your circle you confirm that:

  • You have their permission (or are their parent/guardian) to add their information
  • You will inform them that their data is stored within HomeShift
  • You take responsibility for the accuracy of the information you add about them

Children's data is treated with extra care. We do not use it for any purpose other than providing the family planning features of the app.

8. How long we keep your data

  • Active accounts โ€” we keep your data for as long as your account is active
  • Deleted accounts โ€” data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion
  • Waitlist signups โ€” kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you
  • Support emails โ€” kept for up to 2 years

9. Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to access โ€” request a copy of all data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification โ€” ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure โ€” ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Right to restriction โ€” ask us to limit how we use your data
  • Right to portability โ€” receive your data in a portable format
  • Right to object โ€” object to how we process your data
  • Right to withdraw consent โ€” at any time, for anything based on consent

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@homeshiftapp.com. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

10. Cookies

The HomeShift app uses only essential cookies โ€” these are required for the app to function (such as keeping you logged in). We do not currently use advertising or tracking cookies.

Our website (homeshiftapp.com) does not currently use any analytics or tracking tools. If this changes in future, this policy will be updated and you will be informed.

11. Children's privacy

HomeShift is not directed at children under 13. Children's names and schedules may be added to the app by a parent or guardian as part of the family planning features. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or through the app. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.

Terms & Conditions

Last updated: May 2026  ยท  Applies to: HomeShift app & homeshiftapp.com

Please read these terms before using HomeShift. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you have questions, contact us at hello@homeshiftapp.com.

1. About HomeShift

HomeShift is a family coordination app operated by Jordan Lewis Davies, based in Wrexham, Wales, United Kingdom.

HomeShift helps shift-working families manage rotas, childcare, school schedules and family coordination. The app is currently in beta, meaning it is still being developed and improved.

2. Beta software notice

HomeShift is currently provided as beta software. This means:

  • The app is still in development and may contain bugs or errors
  • Features may change, be added or removed without notice
  • Occasional downtime or data issues may occur
  • We cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service during this period

We recommend not relying solely on HomeShift for critical childcare planning decisions. Always have a backup plan.

3. Your account

To use HomeShift you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and truthful information when registering
  • Keep your password secure and not share it with others
  • Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account
  • Take responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, or have parental/guardian permission if you are under 18.

4. Family circles and other people's data

HomeShift allows you to create a "circle" and add other people โ€” including children, partners, grandparents and helpers. By adding someone you confirm that:

  • You have permission from that person (or are their parent/guardian) to add their details
  • You will not add anyone's information without their knowledge
  • You are responsible for keeping the information you add accurate

You must not use HomeShift to store or share information about people who have not consented to being included.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use HomeShift only for its intended purpose โ€” family coordination and planning. You must not:

  • Use the app for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to access another family's data or circle
  • Try to hack, reverse engineer or disrupt the app or its servers
  • Upload harmful, offensive or inappropriate content
  • Use the app to harass or harm another person
  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions
  • Use automated tools or bots to interact with the app

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

6. Availability and service

We aim to keep HomeShift available at all times but cannot guarantee this. We may need to take the app offline for:

  • Maintenance and updates
  • Security fixes
  • Technical issues beyond our control

We will try to give advance notice of planned downtime where possible. HomeShift is provided free of charge during beta and we reserve the right to introduce paid plans in future with reasonable notice.

7. Our liability

HomeShift is provided as a helpful planning tool. To the extent permitted by UK law:

  • We are not liable for any decisions you make based on information shown in the app
  • We are not responsible for childcare arrangements that fall through or are missed
  • We are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app
  • Our total liability to you shall not exceed ยฃ100

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.

8. Intellectual property

HomeShift, including its name, logo, design and code, is owned by Jordan Lewis Davies. You may not copy, reproduce or distribute any part of HomeShift without our written permission.

The content you add to HomeShift (your family data, rotas and events) remains yours. By using the app you give us permission to store and process it solely to provide the service to you.

9. Deleting your account

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing hello@homeshiftapp.com. We will process your request within 30 days and permanently delete your data.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions as the app develops. When we make significant changes we will notify you by email or in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the app after that date means you accept the new terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
